Chicago drill rapper 051 Drilla released his new single “Not A Rapper” days after surviving a shooting on the city’s South Side. The track and its official video are now out.
What’s known about the shooting
051 Drilla, whose real name is Andre Hamilton, was shot multiple times in the early morning of September 18 near 89th and State on Chicago’s South Side, according to Sandra Rose, citing police dispatch audio. His injuries included gunshot wounds to the right eye, left arm and chest, and he was rushed to the University of Chicago Medical Center in critical condition after losing control of the vehicle he was driving. Police described the shooter as an unidentified man who fled on foot.
The confirmation that he pulled through
Following the shooting, 051 Drilla shared a selfie from the hospital on social media, a moment his fans took as confirmation that he had survived the attack. The incident marks another attempt on his life following past threats, and it came just days after fellow Chicago drill rapper BloodHound Q50 was killed in a similar attack.
