Is Soulja Boy officially running for U.S. president?
Not yet. In his message, Soulja Boy talks about “exploring” public service, and both TMZ and Complex describe the post as a tease or a possible run, without a formal campaign declaration. TMZ adds that he hasn’t said which party he would run with, and none of the sources consulted mention a campaign filing with election authorities.
Can Soulja Boy be president of the United States?
The U.S. Constitution requires a president to be at least 35 years old, a natural-born citizen and a resident of the country for 14 years. Soulja Boy was born in 1990, so he would be 38 in the 2028 election and would meet the age requirement.
Soulja Boy, Kanye West and Waka Flocka: rappers and politics
A rapper in the presidential race isn’t new. Kanye West ran in the 2020 election, and Waka Flocka Flame announced in 2015 a bid for the White House in 2016, according to AllHipHop. In 2019, Saturday Night Live also parodied a Soulja Boy run with Chris Redd, and in 2025 the rapper performed at the Crypto Ball during Donald Trump’s inauguration festivities.
