Lil Wayne appears to have rekindled his relationship with Madi Cannon, calling her “my fiancée” in a new video just months after announcing the two had broken up. The clip surfaced on September 28, showing Cannon standing behind him as he celebrated a fellow rapper’s engagement.

The video was originally posted to congratulate Hot Boys member B.G. on his own engagement, but Wayne used the moment to make an announcement of his own. “And I’m marrying this one. This is Madison. This is my fiancée,” Wayne said, before adding, “Let us know what color we wearing. I’m the best man, ya heard me!” according to XXL.
Why Madi Cannon and Lil Wayne broke up
The new video marks a reversal from earlier this year, when Wayne publicly denied being engaged to Cannon and confirmed the two had split. In a video posted in early July, he explained the breakup directly: “I had a beautiful thing going with an amazing person. But…I don’t want to be such a burden on such an amazing person. So, we decided to part,” according to the same XXL report. Cannon, a 23-year-old from Kokomo, Indiana, had been linked to Wayne for months before that split was announced.

The split came just days after Wayne missed his own tour opener in Bangor, Maine, on June 30. He later explained that he lives with epilepsy and experiences seizures triggered by severe migraines, and that he was advised not to fly after having a migraine that night, according to TheGrio. That show was rescheduled for July 28, and Wayne tied the timing of the breakup to not wanting to “be such a burden” on Cannon during that stretch, rather than pointing to any conflict between the two of them directly. Given that Wayne previously denied an engagement altogether before confirming the split, it remains to be seen whether this new “fiancée” comment holds or whether the couple issues a clearer statement in the days ahead.
