The number of hip-hop albums dropping in October 2026 is light so far, but there’s already a working list of confirmed release dates, led by Drake, Quavo, and a joint project from John Legend and Pharrell. More titles are expected to be added as the month goes on.
Why October’s hip-hop release calendar looks thin
Heading into the final quarter of 2026, hip-hop albums are rumored to be scarce. Labels are cutting budgets to stay financially compliant, while some artists are simply looking to be part of next year’s Grammy cycle instead of releasing now.
Drake kicks things off a day before the Friday releases
Friday will bring the first wave of October releases, and several notable artists have projects planned. Still, it looks like Drake will jump the line by a day, dropping FOMO on October 1.
Quavo, French Montana and Max B follow on October 2
Quavo will release QRÖMELIFE with French Montana, and Max B will finally put out Night To Remember. Both albums are set for October 2.
Ovrkast drops STRIKING after his OutKast controversy
Ovrkast will release STRIKING on October 9, following his dispute with OutKast’s camp over his stage name. High Schoolers LLC, which holds OutKast’s trademark rights, sued Ovrkast over an alleged breach of a settlement tied to a stage-name change, a claim he has publicly disputed.
John Legend, Pharrell, Anderson .Paak and Cordae close out the month
John Legend and Pharrell will release Muse on October 23, the same day Anderson .Paak and Cordae drop Heavy Is The Crown.
