Kanye West unexpectedly returned to the stage as a surprise guest during Chris Brown and Usher’s concert at SoFi Stadium in Los Angeles. The rapper stunned the crowd with a short performance featuring four of his biggest classics, spanning two of the most celebrated eras of his career.
The surprise appearance took place during the first night of The R&B Tour’s Los Angeles stop, where Ye took the stage wearing his now-familiar face covering and performed songs from different points in his discography.
Kanye West Makes Surprise Appearance During the Concert
Kanye West had not been announced as part of the show. The rapper suddenly appeared during Chris Brown and Usher’s performance and delivered a brief four-song set.
His performance included:
| 🎤 Song | 📀 Era |
|---|---|
| Runaway | My Beautiful Dark Twisted Fantasy |
| All of the Lights | My Beautiful Dark Twisted Fantasy |
| Flashing Lights | Graduation |
| Can’t Tell Me Nothing | Graduation |
The set took the audience back to two of the most recognizable periods of Kanye’s career, particularly with tracks from Graduation and My Beautiful Dark Twisted Fantasy.
Kanye’s Appearance Comes Weeks After His Chicago Show
The Los Angeles performance also marked Kanye West’s return to the stage following his appearance in Chicago on September 4, when he closed the second night of his comeback concert at Soldier Field.
During that performance, Ye shared the stage with several artists connected to his musical history, including Kid Cudi, Big Sean, Travis Scott, Common, Twista and Lupe Fiasco.
His surprise appearance alongside Chris Brown and Usher now puts him back on one of the biggest stages in the United States, although his name was not included in the tour’s original announcement.
Kanye, Chris Brown and Usher Have Musical Connections
The collaboration was not completely unexpected from a musical standpoint.
Kanye West and Chris Brown have previously worked together on songs including “Waves” and “Down.” Ye also has a connection to Usher through collaborations such as “Confessions Part II,” which featured contributions from Jermaine Dupri, Twista and Shyne.
This time, however, the context was different. Kanye did not appear to promote a new release or headline his own show. Instead, he joined two major R&B artists as a surprise guest during their tour.
A Short Performance Packed With Nostalgia
The choice of songs also stood out. Rather than focusing on newer material, Kanye went with four widely recognized tracks from his catalog.
“Runaway,” “All of the Lights,” “Flashing Lights” and “Can’t Tell Me Nothing” all come from particularly influential periods in his career, turning the brief appearance into something of a trip through some of his most recognizable work.
The rapper also performed while wearing a mask, an image that has become increasingly associated with his recent public appearances.
Chris Brown and Usher Still Have Tour Dates Ahead
The R&B Tour began on June 26 in Denver and has 59 dates scheduled before its final show on December 12 in Tampa.
Following the first Los Angeles performance, Chris Brown and Usher had another show scheduled at SoFi Stadium before returning to the city for additional dates in November.
Kanye’s unexpected appearance could therefore become one of the most talked-about moments of this stretch of the tour.
The rapper is also continuing to work on his own live schedule, with international dates planned for October, including shows in Indonesia and later in the United States.
For now, his surprise appearance in Los Angeles has left fans wondering one thing: could Kanye West make another unexpected appearance at one of his upcoming concerts?
